Antiretroviral or ARV is a medication
used in the treatment of HIV/AIDS. It works by slowing down or preventing the
growth of the virus, thereby slowing down
the HIV disease.
The HIV/AIDS management includes
multiple antiretroviral drugs, in order to control the HIV infection.
The use of multiple drugs helps in
controlling different viral targets thereby maintaining the proper function of
immune system. This leads to the prevention of opportunistic infections
(infections caused by the pathogens in a weakened immune system) which may
cause death.
Efavirenz (EFV) is one such antiretroviral drug which is sold by
itself or taken in combination with as efavirenz/emtricitabine/tenofovir.
Efavirenz belongs to non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) class of
antiretroviral drugs and it works by inhibiting the activity of reverse-transcriptase (viral DNA polymerase) which is
an essential requirement for HIV and other retrovirus replication.
Efavirenz is hence a crucial and
significant pharmaceutical drug, synthesis of which involves highly stereo selective approach.
Pharmaffiliates
Analytics and Synthetics P. Ltd. provide In-house Reference standards of Efavirenz API
and impurities associated with it in the form of metabolites, degradants,
intermediates and isomeric impurities etc.
All the Reference
material available at Pharmaffiliates
are provided with complete structure
elucidation and data interpretation with high-end
analytical techniques like NMR, MASS and Chromatographic purity along with
detailed Certificate of Analysis.
The impurities that are
identified and synthesized at Pharmaffiliates are:
Efavirenz
amino alcohol methyl carbamate (Cas no- 211563-40-5), Efavirenz
amino alcohol ethyl carbamate (Cas no- 211563-41-6) and Bis(ethoxycarbonyl) efavirenz amino alcohol (Cas no- NA) which
are the formed as a result of degradation
of Efavirenz and present as impurities
of Efavirenz.
Efavirenz
Enantiomer (Cas no- NA) is the (R)-enantiomer of Efavirenz
and it is present in biologically active (S)-enantiomer as an impurity.
(E)-Dihydro
Efavirenz (Cas no- 440124-96-9) is again an isomeric
impurity of Efavirenz.
Pack sizes of all the In-house Reference
materials are provided in 25mg and 50mg
vials. Customized pack sizes as per the
customer’s need are also obtainable at Pharmaffiliates.
All
the products are readily available in stock at Pharmaffiliates and these are delivered in a time and cost-effective manner.
